Shortly about me
I was born and raised here in Kustavi and my heart beats for the archipelago. I have worked since I was 14 years old and built a career which enables living in Kustavi with my family as well as challenging myself professionally.
I have a Bachelor Degree in Marine Technology (Sea Captain) as well as Master Degree in International & Comparative Law (MICL) and Specialist Vocational Qualification in Leadership & Business Management. I have also Teacher's pedagogical qualification.
I am a good combination of practical work and academic knowledge. I have good networks as I have actively created relations with authorities, decision-makers and the media both locally and nationally. I am constantly developing myself and am fast and motivated in learning new things.
I work as Safety & Quality Manager for Finferries, a state-owned ferry company. I'm in charge of the company safety, quality and environment management systems and do internal audits on our vessels. I also lead the crisis group when needed and take part in developing our environmental, social and corporate governance practices.
I completed military service in the Finnish Navy in 2008 and have worked as a in an EU Naval Force anti-piracy mission off the coast of Somalia in 2011. Today, I am an active Navy Reserve Officer with special know-how on NATO's Naval Cooperation & Guidance for Shipping system.
In my free time I play in a local band called Kamjo. My father taught me hunting and fishing skills and I enjoy spending time in the woods and at sea with these activities. I am involved in several Associations in local, national and also in international level. I also like to do many different kind of sports and enjoy writing. I have published two books of poems.
I have two determined little children, a loving husband and a Spanish water dog called Försti. We built us a new log house in Kustavi in 2023 right next to the place where I was born. We also have a nice little hard top boat for small boating trips in the archipelago.
Besides Kustavi I have studied and worked in Turku and Rovaniemi and also in France; La Rochelle and Paris. During my seafaring career I sailed on Finnish oil tankers, small bulk carriers, ice breaker and navy vessels. My mother tongue is Finnish and I also speak fluent English, French and quite ok Swedish.
